ISLAMIC, Umayyad Caliphate. temp. Mu'awiya I ibn Abi Sufyan, AH 41-60 / AD 661-680. Fals (Bronze, 23 mm, 4.78 g, 5 h), Arab-Byzantine type, Tartus (Antarados), AH 40s-50s = AD 670s-680s. Imperial bust facing, holding globus cruciger in her right hand; to left, K/A/Λ/O/N ('good' in Greek); to right, 'tayyib' ('good' in Kufic). Rev. Large M with additional letters (ANTAPAΔOY in monogram form); to left, star; in exergue, ['tayyib'] ('good' in Kufic). Goodwin&Gyselen, p. 53, 16. Stephen Album 19 (2014), 276. Very rare and with attractive earthen highlights. Minor die fault on the obverse, otherwise, very fine.
